Irpinia's jewels in a bottle
In the green heart of Campania, amidst sun-kissed hills and volcanic soils rich in history, Irpinia harbours an extraordinary oenological heritage. Here elegant, intense wines are born, deeply tied to the territory, perfect to accompany an authentic holiday experience such as the one offered by Orsini Resort. In this journey through the flavours and aromas of our land, let us discover together four undisputed protagonists of Irpinian oenology: Taurasi, Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino and Campi Taurasini.
The perfect Wine Pairing
Taurasi: the red king of Irpinia
Often called the ‘Barolo of the South’, Taurasi is Campania's most famous red wine. Made from pure Aglianico grapes, it is aged for at least three years (one of which in barrels) and is characterised by its powerful structure, elegant tannins and extraordinary ageing potential. The nose releases hints of spices, ripe red fruits, tobacco and liquorice. It is the ideal wine to pair with red meats, structured dishes and mature cheeses, perfect for an intimate tasting in the cosy atmosphere of our Roman cellars.
Greco di Tufo: freshness and minerality
A DOCG white wine, Greco di Tufo is one of the oldest Italian grape varieties. Cultivated in the tuffaceous soils around the municipality of Tufo, it offers an intense, fresh and savoury sip. Citrus, floral and mineral notes emerge on the palate, making it perfect with fish dishes, fresh cheeses and elegant aperitifs. A wine that tells of the balance between nature and tradition, to be discovered during our guided cellar tastings.
Fiano di Avellino: pure elegance
Another great Irpinian white, Fiano di Avellino is a refined and aromatic wine, known for its longevity and complexity. Hints of honey, hazelnut, white flowers and yellow-fleshed fruit are perceived on the nose. On the palate it is soft, velvety and persistent, with a unique personality that enchants even the most demanding palates. An ideal choice for those who wish to discover the gentler and deeper soul of Irpinia.
Campi Taurasini: the perfect balance
Less well-known than its big brother Taurasi, the Campi Taurasini represent a younger, more accessible version of Aglianico. They are aged for at least 12 months and offer a full-bodied yet smooth wine with hints of red fruits, black pepper and light roasted notes. It is the perfect companion for a gourmet dinner with an authentic taste, in which local food and wine excellence takes centre stage.
